Focus Terminal for macOS
The short version. The Focus Terminal app has no accounts and no servers of its own. It does not collect, transmit, sell, or use your personal data for tracking or advertising. Everything you do in the app stays on your Mac. The purchase is handled entirely by Apple through the Mac App Store — we never see your payment details, and Apple does not tell us who you are.
This policy applies to the Focus Terminal macOS application (“Focus Terminal”, “the app”) and to this website, both published by Waaridh Borpujari (“we”, “us”). It describes what the app does and does not do with information on your device, and how your information is handled when you buy the app.
Focus Terminal is sold only through the Mac App Store. Apple is the merchant of record: you buy from Apple with your Apple Account, and your payment details go to Apple. We never see your card, bank, name, email, or address, and we cannot charge your payment method ourselves.
Apple does not give us a customer list. What we receive from App Store Connect is aggregate sales reporting — how many units were bought, on which storefronts, on which dates, and the resulting proceeds. We cannot identify an individual buyer from it, and there is nothing in it to link a purchase to a person.
If you separately choose to send Apple analytics data, Apple may show us anonymised, aggregated app usage and crash statistics. That is Apple's system, controlled by your setting in System Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements, not something the app collects.
Apple handles your purchase under Apple's Privacy Policy and the App Store Terms of Service. Questions about your receipt, your payment method, or your Apple Account data go to Apple, because we hold none of it.
The one exception is if you email us — then we obviously have whatever you chose to write to us, and we use it only to answer you. Ask us to delete that correspondence at any time at waaridh@icloud.com.
Focus Terminal keeps your data locally on your device only:
This information never leaves your Mac through Focus Terminal. It remains in Focus Terminal’s local macOS container until you remove that container data. Deleting only the application from the Applications folder may not remove its container. To erase all Focus Terminal data, quit the app, remove the folder at ~/Library/Containers/com.waaridh.FocusTerminal, and empty the Trash. Backups you control, such as Time Machine backups, may retain earlier copies until you remove or expire those backups.
Focus Terminal displays flight routes and scenery using Apple MapKit. Rendering maps may require network requests to Apple to fetch map and imagery tiles. Those requests are handled by Apple and governed by Apple’s privacy policy and services terms. Focus Terminal does not add tracking to these requests and does not receive your location or map activity back from Apple.
If you choose Send Feedback in Settings, Focus Terminal opens your email app with a pre-filled draft. That draft contains only the Focus Terminal version, build number, and macOS version — nothing else. Nothing is sent unless you decide to send the email yourself, and you can add or remove anything before sending.
Focus Terminal uses local notifications for turbulence reminders and landing alerts only after you grant notification permission when macOS asks at boarding. These notifications are generated on your device. You can change or revoke this permission at any time in System Settings › Notifications.
Focus Terminal only accesses files and apps that you select through the standard macOS open and save panels — for example, saving an arrival-card image, or picking an app to add to your Cabin Mode no-fly list. It has no other file access.
The optional cabin-audio ambience is synthesized on your device and is off by default. Focus Terminal does not use the microphone and does not record any audio.
Focus Terminal is a general-audience productivity app. It does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children.
If this policy changes, we will update the text and the “Last updated” date above. Material changes will be reflected here before they take effect for a new version of the app.
